Owner Timothy R. Pickett attended Columbia College graduating in June of 2000, with a major in architectural acoustics.  Not only can SLD offer you an amazing design on a system, but can help you with room acoustics as well. Many installers are capable of selling their clients expensive equipment and too much of it, however most installers have absolutely no knowledge of room acoustics, which play the most crucial role of a great sounding system.

After achieving a good room design, the system design is imperative. SLD offers a broad range of knowledge of all different kinds of sound systems. We understand that a church’s needs are far different from those of a restaurant, or a concert venue, or a night club. Ballroom Sound Systems

Ballroom and Conference Centers require complex audio systems — multi-zone inputs with multi zone outputs coupled with the ability to combine and route signal from any input, in any room, to a unique output zone, or to all of them. In some venues the number of I/O zones can exceed 32 or even 64. Digital audio matrices allow users incredible flexibility and, using control systems can create a system operation that is simple to the end user. Imagine walking around with an Ipad and making all the necessary adjustments to your system to set up for daily operation… This is more easily, and more affordably, attainable than you might think.

High Energy Nightclub

Most audio companies do not truly know how to design a nightclub audio system. Touring type companies that specialize in larger concerts will try to set nightclubs up the same way and this typically ends up with an uncomfortably loud area near the speaker array and muffled sound or inadequate sound throughout the rest of the venue. On the other hand, companies who specialize in distributed systems, such as restaurants, will typically install a sound system which cannot meet the high SPL levels required by today’s modern nightclubs. SLD has the knowhow and the product lines to meet even the most challenging requirements in this field.

Restaurant Sound System

Along with having multiple output zones, restaurants typically have a very complicated problem with volume, a problem that is not easily fixed. Restaurants do not want to “blast” customers with inordinately loud sound and so they play their systems at a very low level. At this level, however, the noise of the clientele masks the sound emitted by the system, making it very hard to hear the vocal range of the music. Fortunately SLD has the expertise to resolve this problem — we can make your restaurant sound perfect!

Church Sound System

Churches have some of the worst sound systems throughout the United States. The typical scenario in a church is that a great number of people must agree on spending a large amount of money on a sound system. Often the result is that such an expenditure is placed low on the priority list. Still the unfortunate reality is that many people, both young and old, cannot understand the spoken word transmitted through their outdated sound system — in technical terms, there is a low intelligibility index. SLD realizes that churches often have very tight budgets and can work within such constraints to give the client a good sounding system.
